Toss the Feathers
Dermot Crehan & Paul Honey
Music For Irish Soloists and Orchestra
This album of traditional Irish melodies and songs, together with a
few self-composed pieces, is the culmination of a long-standing
partnership between the acclaimed Irish violinist Dermot Crehan and
the composer/arranger Paul Honey. After having spent many years
working together in recording studios and even in a few orchestra
pits in London's West End, they came together to create an album that
reflects their musical backgrounds and experiences, blending the
worlds of Celtic, Classical, Traditional Irish, and Film music.
Paul and Dermot are joined by four fine soloists; the vocalist Mick
Sands, virtuoso accordionist Luke Daniels, flautist Fiona Kelly and
sister Jean Kelly playing harp.
The premiere performance of the music took place at the Church of St
Martin In The Fields and has been enthusiastically received at
subsequent performances such as the Maidstone Proms In The Park, the
concert for the Musicians' Benevolent Fund at the Royal Opera House
and the sellout St Patrick’s Day Celebration, again at St Martin in
the Fields. Produced by Gary Cole, the recording also features the
RTE Concert Orchestra, conducted by Gearoid Grant.
