Working as a session musician on the score of a Hollywood movie can sometimes involve a lot of sitting around between takes. The composer and director have to listen to the previous recorded take and it is very often the case that the composer and orchestrator then have to tweak the music during the recording session.
And so it was that Dermot was waiting between takes whilst working with the composer Hans Zimmer on the score for the blockbuster movie 'The Da Vinci Code'. No doubt inspired by Zimmer's stunningly atmospheric score for the movie, Lenney's Reel came into fruition - what would Leonardo Da Vinci have made of an Irish Reel being named in his honour?
